Cookie Policy
Last updated: 24 September 2026
This Cookie Policy describes the use of cookies and similar technologies on viaggiinchiaro.com and explains how Users can manage their preferences.
Cookies are small files that may be stored on the User’s device while browsing. The Website may also use technologies with similar functions, such as the browser’s localStorage. In this document, these technologies may also be referred to as “Tracking Technologies”.
How we use cookies and similar technologies
1. Necessary
The Website uses technical cookies and other technologies that are strictly necessary to ensure the proper functioning of the pages, protect the security of the Website and store the preferences expressed by the User.
These technologies do not require the User’s consent when they are strictly necessary to provide the requested service.
Silktide Consent Manager
The Website uses Silktide Consent Manager to collect and manage preferences relating to cookies and other optional technologies.
The User’s choice is stored in the browser’s localStorage. Silktide Consent Manager does not use its own cookies to store these preferences.
In order to document the choices made and any subsequent changes or withdrawals, ViaggiInChiaro also keeps a pseudonymous server-side consent log.
The consent log contains only:
- a randomly generated consent identifier;
- the date and time of the choice;
- the status of the Functional and Analytics categories;
- the type of action, such as acceptance, rejection or modification;
- the Website language;
- the version of the Cookie Policy;
- the version of the consent management configuration.
The consent log does not store the visitor’s name, email address, IP address or full User-Agent.
The randomly generated identifier is used solely to link the different choices made by the same browser. It is therefore a pseudonymous identifier and does not directly identify the User.
Consent-log data is retained for a maximum period of 24 months and is then automatically deleted.
Users can modify or withdraw their choice at any time through the cookie preference management icon available on the Website.
More information: Silktide Consent Manager.
2. Functional
Functional cookies and technologies enable optional features or content provided by external services.
Where such services require cookies to be stored or access to information on the User’s device, they are activated only after consent has been given to the “Functional” category.
A standard link to an external website, such as Google Maps, does not by itself cause cookies from that provider to be installed on the User’s device while browsing ViaggiInChiaro. Any technologies used by the external provider apply only after the User chooses to visit the relevant website or service.
3. Analytics and measurement
The Website uses analytics tools only after the User has given consent to the “Analytics” category.
Before consent is given, the analytics tools configured on the Website are not used to perform statistical tracking of the visit.
Google Analytics 4
The Website uses Google Analytics 4, an analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, to obtain statistical information about how the Website is used.
Google Analytics is loaded on the Website only after the User has consented to analytics cookies.
Google Analytics may collect information such as the number of users, sessions, pages and interactions with the Website, as well as information relating to the browser, device and approximate geographic location.
Google states that, for users in the European Union, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, the IP addresses used during data collection are not logged or stored. The IP address is used to derive approximate geographic information and is then discarded before the data is recorded.
Google Analytics normally uses first-party cookies, including:
- _ga – used to distinguish users; default duration of up to 2 years.
- _ga_<container-id> – used to maintain session state; default duration of up to 2 years.
These cookies are used on the Website only after consent has been given to the Analytics category.
Provider: Google Ireland Limited.

and

Matomo Analytics
The Website also uses Matomo Analytics to obtain statistics about how pages are used and to understand how visitors interact with the content.
Matomo is configured to perform tracking only after the User has given consent to the “Analytics” category.
Before consent is given, no Matomo tracking requests relating to the visit are sent.
When enabled, Matomo may use first-party cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions and to generate statistics about the use of the Website.
More information: Matomo Privacy Policy.
External links and affiliate programmes
ViaggiInChiaro participates in affiliate programmes and may contain links to third-party websites and services, including Amazon and Booking.com.
The presence of a standard affiliate link on a ViaggiInChiaro page does not, by itself, cause Amazon or Booking.com cookies to be installed on the User’s device while browsing our Website.
When the User chooses to click on the link, they are transferred to the third party’s website. From that point onwards, the external service may use cookies and other technologies in accordance with its own privacy notice and consent settings.

Third-party links and content
The Website may contain links to third-party websites and services, such as Google Maps, Booking.com, Amazon or other services mentioned in the articles.
The cookie, privacy and data-processing policies that apply after accessing such websites are determined by their respective providers and are independent of ViaggiInChiaro.
If third-party content requiring cookies or technologies that are not strictly necessary is directly embedded into the Website in the future, such content will be subject to the relevant consent choice where required.
Managing consent
On the first visit to the Website, the User can:
- accept all optional cookies;
- reject all non-essential cookies;
- select individual categories through “Customize”.
Analytics and functional cookies are disabled by default and are enabled only after a positive choice by the User.
Simply browsing, scrolling the page, closing the banner or remaining inactive is not interpreted as consent.
The choice can be modified or withdrawn at any time through the cookie preference management icon displayed on the Website.
Each significant change to the User’s choice is recorded in the pseudonymous consent log, allowing subsequent withdrawals to be documented as well.
If the purposes, services used or third parties involved change, the User may be asked to express their preferences again.
How to delete or disable cookies in your browser
In addition to the tools provided by the Website, Users can view, delete or block cookies through their browser settings.
Deleting cookies or website data from the browser may also remove previously stored preferences and the pseudonymous consent identifier, causing the cookie banner to be displayed again.
No advertising profiling
ViaggiInChiaro does not currently use cookies for commercial profiling or behavioural advertising purposes.
Google’s consent functions relating to advertising and personalised advertising are kept disabled in the Website’s configuration.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy may be updated in the event of changes to legislation, technology or the services used by the Website.
In the event of significant changes to the use of cookies or the purposes of processing, Users may be asked to provide their preferences again.
